Filmmakers who collect the whys of the travelers and the home builders they visit. Who weave together a narrative that integrates the dark and disenchanted realities of the world with the inspired practical creation and hope carried by these people
Chefs and nutritionists who feed the bodies and hearts of our people and teach the world how intentional consumption can ignite an upward spiral of creativity. Through creative use of the abundant seasonal, flavorful, organically grown whole foods collected, cultivated and graciously received by our community.
Scientists who diligently study nature, delighting in discovery and its applied creation. The sorts of people who notice. “my oh my the sunflowers sure do well when they grow right nice to tomatoes.” Remarking “ woah! the egg whites and the crushed petals of borage make an incredible long lasting paint.”
Farmers who notice how plants grow, who try new things and listen to flowers. Who are interested in discovering how natural systems can be applied in agricultural settings to generate lots of healthy food, sequester carbon, foster community, fill aquifers, support eco systems and cycle nutrients.
Herbalists, medicine people, who heal the mind and body, giving their time to the health of others. Who are nourished by deeply knowing the minds of another. Who help everyone to know they are connected and deeply accepted even in sickness, mental and physical.
We each are all all of these things! Each of us is endowed with our own capabilities and their adjacent fascinations
Practices:
A document is to be kept that describes the places we have been and the people we’ve met along the way. To foster opportunities for connection even if the people were not with us when we met those people who contributed to those places.
A document is to be kept, that list and describes meaningful media to members of the crew. An excel sheet, with movies on one tab, books on another, podcasts on another, songs on another, with the description and recommendations of the people for whom that media has meant something to. This document to have a resource to share the things that have taught us what we know and help to inspire our work. Both technical and spiritual, media lays the foundation for our own contributions. Through the inspiration of what others have created and discovered we are better able to dream of what we want to create, and through the dreaming find what we are called to.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
